The show-show yesterday was A+ and all the bands were great. Mutators particularly are effing spectacular. Everything about it. Totally punishing and demanding of full attention every moment.  The only drawback was poor attendance. Luckily, Mutators are coming back through town in a few weeks, so don't chumpatize yourself by missing it. These people need to be seen by all those who appreciate true Canadian experimental-punk brutality. Click on that link and check back here in a couple weeks for the date. Club Sandwich will most likely be organizing that show.

Evidences

These photos are of the project, YOUR NEW CITY.
Img_0417 I think Judy described the project best when she said, "Justin used words, glue sticks, friends, copy machines, paint, and a little bit of old fashioned know-how to create a thing that people crowded around to look at and touch."
The idea was to create a space for interaction between people and places and to create and compare and think about our shared experiences and associations with the city. Sort of. There was a lot going on. We put up a giant map of Oakland and Berkeley and asked people to fill out a four page questionnaire in order to attain NEW CITY Passports. Participants then put stickers on the map that corresponded to places asked about in the questionnaire. I'm in the process now of organizing all the data collected and will be putting together a book or poster or something dealing with the project in a more in depth way soon.

Tons of people participated and at one point a line spontaneously formed.
Everyone who did this project is awesome. It was amazing to watch the thing grow and happen and to watch people look at the map (and comparing their marks to their friends' marks) and to actually spend tons of time on their questionnaires. I can't believe that people spent so much time working on those. I want to thank everyone who did the project or who looked at it or watched it happen. Also to Cathy and to Jen who made the whole thing work and who make everything work. Yes.

Gilman show was awesome beyond expecations

Justin, drummer man of this bandy-band, did a fantabulous interactive art piece at the show last Friday that he will elaborate upon and provide pictures for us in this space shortly.

Passportfront

Passportinside The idea of the show was to wheat-paste arts on the walls and sell prints for extremely cheap if at all.  Judy Balls aka Cindi Leper had some Shitty Mickey's pasted up in the lavatory, Heather Blotto also did a condo-themed something right next to Justin's condo-themed something.  Joey Alone, Lisa Mancini, and Julia Booze were a few other notable artists that were exhibiting themselves.  Kill Elephant and Grey Daturas were super heavy droners and thankfully cleared all the poseurs out of the room. All of everyone's arts amazingly blended together to form a magically beauteous Gilman.  Good job, Ariel Awesome (Gilman chief coordinator and organizer of this particular event).

Show Show: This Weakened

This is the bulletin system of alerts toward a future of performance and spectatorship (and the performance of spectatorship). Too much, too much. Heaving and blinking over and over too much. This weekend there will be excess and it will be disgusting.

See the band that is our band here: on July 7th at the Parkside and on July 8th at the Hemlock. One is on 17th, the other is on Polk. One is a benefit one is not.

At the Parkside it will be our friends (with benefits): Precious Precious Liquids djs: Brontez and Disc Jockey Hachi-Ichi-Go Go!!, presented by the hideous shaking Club Feral. At the Hemlock, we will be amongst the likes of DiDi Mao, and Knight Rider and a sea of Ho Ho's floating in Mountain Dew, shredding our bathing suits.

Each show starts at 9:00 and cannot be more expensive than $5.00.

Information.
